A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF STERLING, KANSAS FROM K.S.A.14-1301, ASAMENDED BY CHAPTER 106 OFTHE 1975 SESSION LAWS OF KANSAS, AND PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE AND ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT, RELATING TO THE QUALIFICATIONS OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF STERLING, KANSAS.

Section 1. The City of Sterling, Kansas by the power invested in it by Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas hereby elects to exempt itself from and make inapplicable to K.S.A. 14-1301, as amended by Chapter 106 of the 1975 Session Laws of Kansas, and provide substitute and additional provisions as hereinafter set forth in this ordinance. Such statutory provision is applicable to this city, but is not applicable uniformly to all cities.

Section 2. The mayor and each of said commissioners shall be not less than twenty-five (25) years of age, a citizen of the United States, and for two (2) years immediately preceding his election, a resident and qualified elector of such city.
